Editor’s Letter
Dear Readers,
How blessed we are here in Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire, England, for we have had some very hot days recently, then suddenly we have some gentle rain, which turns our brown lawns back to green. How magical is that!
Talking of magic, on the evening of the Summer Solstice a group of us went down to the banks of the River Thames to celebrate this wonderful planet that we live on. We formed a circle and honoured the Elements and the Angels. We then said a prayer giving love (the greatest energy) and gratitude to all that is living here on Mother Earth. When we turned our eyes to the grey overcast sky there right above us was a perfect circle of beautiful pink clouds. How awesome that was! We truly do live in a magical world and the more we understand that, and the more we accept the magic the more will come our way.
Bev and I have a rest next month and will print again at the beginning of September. Once again we would like to thank you for your continued support. We sincerely hope that you all have a FANTASTIC August break.

We received this email this morning from the Avaaz organisation and it shows us that we CAN make a difference if enough of us shout loud enough together!

Dear friends,
We did it! The proposal to legalise whale killing went down in flames in Morocco — and our campaign helped to tip the balance.
In a few short weeks, we built the biggest whale-saving petition in history, signed by an extraordinary 1.2 million of us worldwide, and delivered it directly to key delegates at the International Whaling Commission meeting. In the end, the 24 year old whaling ban was upheld.
The pro-whaling lobby tried to use political favours to win a so called ‘compromise’ that amounts to a quota for hunting whales, but as tension grew in the closed-door talks, our massive petition became a top story on the BBC’s world news, and we worked with friendly negotiators and other allies to put pressure where it was most needed and draw greater global attention.
The Australian environment minister Peter Garrett received our petition for like-minded governments in front of the world’s media and said “Thank you very much Avaaz. It is a great pleasure to be here and accept this petition … I believe the people of the world’s voices need to be heard. I certainly hear them today.”
The U.S. delegation greeted us saying — “Avaaz! We saw your billboard at the airport!” and delegates were overheard excitedly discussing our giant real-time petition counter outside the meeting as it blew far past the million mark.
After the meeting, one European negotiator told us: “We’ve managed to keep the ban in place…I’ve been checking the petition online. I was very impressed by how fast the numbers are rising and seeing people signing from across the world.”
This is an important victory for whales — and for global people power — together we demonstrated that international decisions can be shifted by a little bit of well-placed effort from a lot of people everywhere.
But winning this battle won’t guarantee the whales’ safety yet — Japan’s “scientific” whaling fleet is already sailing out of harbour through IWC loopholes to kill hundreds of whales.
To win for good, we’ll need to campaign to strengthen and reform the IWC, and to mobilise in countries with pro-whaling governments like Japan — where the Cabinet knows Avaaz and we have changed environmental policy in the past.

The Truth Within
Let us speak this day of the tragedies that befall your planet,
and in so doing,
let us join in union as we hold the space for peace
for all who exist on this magnificent life being
who serves as your host and provides you with residence.
Great sadness fills our hearts
as we witness the unspeakable unkindness that engulfs your lives.
Why, we repeatedly ask.
Why do you choose to live in such unremarkable ways?
You are Children of the Light!
Why do you not accept each other,
as you are accepted by All That Is?
Why do you not embrace your beautiful differences
rather than utilizing these differences to create ill will among you?
Why can you not see the beauty that exists within each of you
and why can you not love each other as brothers and sisters,
which is indeed your truth?
You are One!
Each of you is One
with all others on this planet…and more!
Regardless of your preferences, your skin color,
your ethnic traditions, your religious and political ideologies,
your tragic histories and your present dilemmas,
you are all One
and it is time that you contemplated this truth.
We speak bluntly today because it is necessary.
Though no one person is to blame,
all must bear the responsibility of correcting your present path.
Too long have you resided in the luxury of blaming one another
and it has achieved nothing.
Now each must accept responsibility
for changing the course of your evolutionary process.
Now each of you must make the necessary changes
to advance your world to a peaceful state of existence.
Children of the Light,
you are more than you appear to be
and you are intended to live in peace.
Ponder this please!
It is your truth!

by and by they return them, with interest, and our hearts feel good.
